To open the season, “Donald vs. Donald: Will the Polish Presidency lay the foundations for a robust EU in the face of Trump’s return?” questions the future of transatlantic relations. Donald Trump was inaugurated President of the United States for the second time on Monday 20 January. With the return of the Republican reviving concerns about ties between the European Union and the United States, Donald Tusk’s Poland, at the head of the rotating Presidency of the Council of the EU, could play a decisive role in redefining the balance between Washington and Brussels. Sylvie Matelly, director of the Jacques Delors Institute and an expert on major European geopolitical and economic issues, and Camille-Cerise Gessant, deputy editor-in-chief of Agence Europe and a specialist in transatlantic relations and defence, gave us their insights.
