Electricity market reform – deadline reached for EU Member States to transpose into national law

17/01/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 17 January, the European Commission reiterated that this date was the deadline for EU Member States to transpose the electricity market design rules (Directive EU/2024/1711) into national law. These rules, which were the subject of an interinstitutional agreement on 14 December 2023 and came into force on 16 July 2024 (see EUROPE B13454A27), aim to stabilise energy prices for consumers by reducing dependence on fossil fuel costs.
