17/01/2025 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 13 January, members of the European Parliament’s Committee on Agriculture called for an increased reserve for agricultural crises in 2026. This committee debated the draft opinion on the ‘Guidelines for the 2026 Budget’ prepared by Dario Nardella (S&D, Italian). The rapporteur stresses the importance of having a stronger and more reactive agricultural reserve “to deal with increasingly frequent external factors”. He is also proposing an increased budget for agriculture in the Horizon Europe programme and a further simplification of rules to make life easier for farmers. The vote on this draft opinion in the Committee on Agriculture will take place on 18 February. (LC)
