18/12/2024 (Agence Europe) – At the Environment Council on Tuesday 17 December, European ministers adopted conclusions on the European Court of Auditors’ special report, published the previous day, on adaptation to climate change in the European Union (see EUROPE 13505/15). The EU Council document highlights the ongoing efforts of the EU and its Member States to prevent and reduce climate-related risks, and recognises the need to promote “the systemic nature of adaptation” by integrating adaptation, climate risks, resilience and climate preparedness. The ministers also call on the European Commission to integrate climate change adaptation and resilience into all relevant legislation and policies, and look forward to the forthcoming publication of the European Climate Adaptation Plan.
