20/11/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 20 November, the EU’s main business representative, BusinessEurope, published a position paper in which it examines trade relations between the EU and China. Despite the difficulties, the European Union must work towards a mutually beneficial relationship with Beijing, according to BusinessEurope. To achieve this, the organisation believes that the EU must avoid protectionist policies and reflect on a long-term strategy. While supporting the use of trade defence instruments such as tariffs to defend the interests of European businesses, Business Europe is calling for every effort to be made to avoid aggravating trade tensions.
