18/11/24 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 18 November, the Council of the European Union adopted four new legislative texts as part of the ‘maritime safety’ legislative package, namely those amending the directives on: - investigation of accidents in the maritime transport sector; - pollution caused by ships; - compliance with flag State requirements; - port state control. The ‘package’ will provide the EU with modern tools to support clean shipping by aligning EU rules with international standards while strengthening cooperation between European and national authorities. The European Parliament approved the agreement in April (see EUROPE 13388/14).
