07/11/24 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 6 November, the European Commission opened a four-week public consultation, which will run until 3 December 2024, on a proposed reparability index for household tumble dryers. Designed to encourage the purchase of more repairable products, this index will be accompanied by a note in the additional key information section of the new EU energy label for tumble dryers to help consumers compare models. This new label will be introduced in July 2025, in line with legislation already adopted in 2023, and the reparability index will be added from that date, before becoming mandatory in January 2027. Separate reactions are also expected on minor updates to ecodesign rules. To see the consultation: https://aeur.eu/f/e7y (PLD)
