05/11/24 (Agence Europe) – A group of twenty-seven associations, including BusinessEurope, Copa-Cogeca and EuroCommerce, published a joint statement on Tuesday 5 November calling for simplification in the implementation of the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD). The organisations denounce the regulatory burden for companies subject to this legislation from 2027. They are therefore asking the European Commission to identify and address any overlap between the various pieces of legislation that impose ‘reporting’ obligations. The Commission should also publish guidelines for businesses at least two years before the date of application. Failing that, it should consider postponing the date of entry into force, according to the signatories of the declaration. They also feel that the transposition of the directive in the Member States needs to be closely monitored to ensure harmonisation. See the declaration: https://aeur.eu/f/e79 (LM)
