The new list of cross-border renewable energy projects (CB RES) under the Connecting Europe Facility for Energy (CEF Energy) mechanism, published on 1 October, came into force on Tuesday 22 October.
Following the addition of three further projects in July 2024 (see EUROPE 13461/2), the list now includes a total of eight projects which, thanks to their official CB RES status, are eligible for financial support for studies and works under the CEF Energy programme.
On 22 October, the European Commission launched the call for proposals for studies and works for cross-border renewable energy projects, with €80 million available under the CEF Energy programme.
Only the eight projects on the CB RES list can apply and submit their proposals before 16 January 2025.
Studies include the activities needed to prepare for the implementation of a cross-border RES (renewable energy source) project, “such as preparatory, mapping, feasibility, evaluation, testing and validation studies, including in the form of software, and any other technical support measure”, says the Commission in a press release.
Works includes the purchase, supply and deployment of components, systems and services, as well as development, construction and installation activities relating to a CB RES project.
