The European Commission has announced that, from 22 October, verification of digital identity has become compulsory for all suppliers who register their product models in the European Product Registry for Energy Labelling (EPREL).
According to the Commission, this obligation to check the database is intended to guarantee the quality, reliability and usefulness of the information provided to consumers and public authorities.
Under the new rules, unverified suppliers will no longer be able to register products and these will not appear in the general searches of the EPREL database.
The Commission is therefore calling on suppliers who have not yet registered to complete their verification process quickly “in order to ensure compliance and avoid disruptions in their product registrations”.
