Erasmus+, European Commission launches a new and improved digital platform for European Student Card

On Thursday 17 October, the European Commission announced a new digital platform for the European Student Card (ESC). The redesigned ESC Router, available from 23 October, simplifies the issuing of ESCs by higher education establishments.

Thanks to this new infrastructure, exchange students will be able to validate their student status and access services more easily throughout the European education area.

Moving to a cloud infrastructure offers enhanced security. The new ESC Router also improves the user experience with a simplified interface and instant card delivery. Schools can integrate the ESC at no extra cost, while guaranteeing the protection of student data.

This initiative is in line with the EU Council’s objectives to increase student mobility and enable 23% of European graduates to gain learning experience abroad by 2030. Establishments already using the new platform have begun the transition, ensuring continuity of service. (Original version in French by Nithya Paquiry)
