On Monday 14 October, the EU Council adopted a decision to conclude the free trade agreement between the EU and Colombia and Peru, which has already been applied provisionally since 2013. At the same time, the EU Council also adopted the decision to conclude the protocol concerning Ecuador’s accession to the agreement, which was signed in 2016.
The conclusion of these two texts follows the finalisation of ratification on both sides: EU Member States finished ratifying the trade agreement in May this year and the protocol for Ecuador in July. This country has also benefited provisionally from the agreement since 2017.
In the Andean community, only Bolivia has not joined the agreement, but it has the opportunity to do so. (Original version in French by Léa Marchal)
