On Monday 14 October, the Council of the EU adopted restrictive measures against seven individuals and seven entities following the transfer of missiles and drones from Iran to Russia. The sanctioned individuals and entities are linked to the development and transfer of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), missiles and related technologies to Russia and to armed groups and entities undermining peace and security in the Middle East and the Red Sea region.
The Europeans have therefore decided to impose sanctions on three Iranian airlines (Saha Airlines, Mahan Air and Iran Air), two contracting companies (Basamad Electronic Pouya Engineering Co and Teyf Tadbir Engineering Company) and two companies involved in the production of propellant used to launch rockets and missiles (Iran Alumina Company and Shahid Haj Ali Movahed Research Center).
Restrictive measures have been imposed on the Iranian Deputy Defence Minister, Seyed Hamzeh Ghalandari, and several senior officials: Behnam Shahriyari, of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC-QF); Ali Shadmanik, of Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters (KCHG), linked to the IRGC; Ali Jafarabadi, Commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force Space Division.
Also involved are the managing directors of Iran Aircraft Manufacturing Industries (HESA), Mehdi Gogerdchian, and Aerospace Industries Organization (AIO), Seid Mir Ahmad Nooshin, two companies listed on the EU stock exchange. The military attaché at the Iranian embassy in Russia, Reza Khosravi Moghaddam, is also subject to these targeted measures.
Those targeted will be subject to an asset freeze and a ban on travelling to the European Union. It is forbidden to provide them with funds or economic resources, directly or indirectly.
