10/10/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 10 October, the General Court of the European Union appointed the judges who will sit, between October 2024 and October 2025, in the preliminary ruling chamber created following the revision of the Statute of the Court of Justice of the EU (see EUROPE 13309/19). This Preliminary Chamber will be presided over by the Vice-President of the General Court, the Cypriot Savvas Papasavvas, and will sit with five judges, appointed on a rotating basis from among 10 judges. The three Judges who will act as Advocates General in the handling of requests for preliminary rulings were also elected. According to the revised Statute of the Court of Justice, the new preliminary ruling chamber within the General Court will hear cases in the following areas: VAT and excise duties, customs, air passenger compensation, and the greenhouse gas Emissions Trading System.
