10/10/24 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 10 October, the EU Member States endorsed the text of the provisional agreement reached in November 2023 on the CyberResilience Act (CRA)(see EUROPE 13305/1). The CRA is designed to eliminate vulnerabilities in products with digital functionalities (such as connected home cameras, fridges, televisions and toys) by introducing mandatory cyber security requirements for their design, development, production and availability. Thus, “all digital elements available on the market that can have a direct or indirect data connection with a device or network” should be made available by manufacturers “without any known exploitable vulnerability”. The text must be published in the Official Journal of the European Union before officially coming into force. (IS)
