PfE group nominates Elon Musk for 2024 Sakharov Prize

19/09/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 19 September, the ‘Patriots for Europe’ group announced that it had nominated the head of X, Elon Musk, for the 2024 Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought. “His commitment to free speech, transparency, and the fight against censorship aligns with the values of freedom and human rights”, explained the group on X. Mr Musk had already been proposed in 2023 by the ID group in the European Parliament (see EUROPE 13254/19). In addition, as announced by Agence Europe (see EUROPE 13485/20), the S&D group has nominated Yael Admi, from the Israeli association Women Wage Peace, and Reem Hajajra, from the Palestinian organisation Women of the Sun.
