Europe’s logistics professionals hope to see progress on ‘Greening Freight’ package

According to a newsletter that it published on Friday, 23 August, CLECAT – which represents freight transport and logistics professionals – is notably hoping to see progress on proposals for the 2024–2029 legislative period on greening freight.

CLECAT hopes that the European Parliament’s Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN) will move forward with the revision of the Combined Transport Directive in collaboration with the Council Presidency (see EUROPE 13443/10). It is also hoping for some progress to be made on the proposal to revise the weights and dimensions for heavy-duty vehicles, on which Member States have yet to reach a consensus.

CLECAT has expressed some concerns about ‘CountEmissions EU’, a European proposal that aims to establish a harmonised framework for calculating and reporting greenhouse gas emissions from transport services that is based on ISO 14083. It intends to continue its advocacy initiatives so as to ensure this text becomes a practical framework to help companies calculate and report their transport services’ greenhouse gas emissions.
