27/08/24 (Agence Europe) – At a meeting with the Samoan Prime Minister, Fiamè Naomi Mata’afa, the European Commissioner for International Partnerships, Jutta Urpilainen, announced a further €3.1 million in budgetary aid from the European Union on Tuesday 27 August. This financial support is intended to strengthen Samoa’s “Water resilience and adaptation to climate change” programme. Currently on a visit to Tonga (Polynesia), Ms Urpilainen also met civil society representatives on Tuesday to discuss the futures of younger generations in the Pacific islands. The Commissioner also indicated on the social network X that an ‘EU Youth Sounding Board’ would be set up for the Pacific region. (BD)
