27/08/24 (Agence Europe) – On Monday, 26 August, Anders Opedal – the CEO of Norwegian energy giant Equinor – announced during an energy conference in Oslo that he intends to maintain oil and gas production in Norway “around current levels” for another decade, according to a report by Agence France-Presse (AFP). The group plans to stabilise production in Norway at 1.2 million barrels per day until 2035 and is aiming to produce 40 billion cubic metres of gas per year by 2035. Norway has become Europe’s biggest supplier of natural gas following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. In May, Equinor and its partners agreed to invest $1.1 billion in order to continue developing Troll, a Norwegian gas field in the North Sea that supplies around 10% of Europe’s gas needs. (PLD)
