Three members of The Left in European Parliament ask European Commission to look into whether car manufacturer Tesla respects right to strike

25/07/24 (Agence Europe)On Wednesday 24 July, members of The Left in the European Parliament Per Clausen (Danish), Li Andersson (Finnish) and Jonas Sjöstedt (Swedish) submitted a written question to the European Commission on the posting of workers in Tesla service centres. The three elected representatives had questioned the Commission in June (see EUROPE 13441/29), but received no response. At the end of 2023, the Swedish federation IF Metall went on strike against the carmaker after several unsuccessful attempts to engage in collective bargaining for mechanics. According to the Swedish posting register, Tesla then increased the posting of foreign workers from zero in 2023 to 41 since February 2024, to replace striking workers. The elected representatives are asking the Commission whether Tesla is undermining the Swedish industrial relations system and the fundamental right to collective bargaining and the right to strike.
