On Thursday 27 June, the European Commission launched a call for evidence to update the EU ecodesign rules for air heating and cooling products.
It is inviting comments from the public and stakeholders on potential changes to the regulations initially established in 2016 and implemented in 2018 and 2021.
The revision aims to incorporate recent technological advances such as heat recovery and the free cooling technique.
In addition, the Commission is seeking to take account of changes in European legislation such as the F-Gas Regulation and the rules on the circular economy.
The aim is to gather qualitative and quantitative data in order to carry out the analysis needed to adopt revised ecodesign rules for air heating and cooling products by the second quarter of 2026.
The call for evidence is open until 31 August and is aimed at industry experts, businesses, environmental and consumer organisations, EU countries and individuals.
