EU and ICAO strengthen their commitment to safety, security and sustainability of global aviation

28/06/24 (Agence Europe) – The European Union and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the safety, security and sustainability of global aviation at a meeting at ICAO headquarters in Montreal, Canada, on Wednesday 26 June. The two parties, represented by Magda Kopczyńska, Director General for Mobility and Transport of the European Commission, and Juan Carlos Salazar, Secretary General of ICAO, signed agreements aimed at increasing cooperation in capacity building, technical assistance and support for implementation, as well as in continuous monitoring activities in the field of aviation security. “We are particularly pleased to partner with ICAO on the EU Global Gateway and ACT-SAF initiatives to support the development of sustainable aviation fuels in developing countries“, commented Ms Kopczyńska.
