28/06/24 (Agence Europe) – "In France, the ‘Comité national des pêches maritimes et des élevages marins’ (CNPMEM) has called on the European Union to change its approach to fisheries during the new legislature, in a manifesto published on Thursday 27 June. The “succession of crises” has greatly weakened this profession, endangering the essential European fishing industry, it said. In order to achieve the objective of a lasting and sustainable industry, as well as European food sovereignty, the CNPMEM believes that the EU needs to get back to the “realities on the ground”, revitalise the “attractiveness of the profession” and contribute to the modernisation of the sector to enable its energy transition.
