28/06/24 (Agence Europe) – In a new publication published on Thursday 27 June, Eurostat indicates that renewable energies will account for 44.7% of the EU's electricity production in 2023, making them the main source of electricity in the EU in 2023. Electricity generated from renewable sources rose by 12.4%, while electricity generated from fossil fuels fell by 19.7%. Nuclear energy accounted for 22.8% of the EU's energy production. Last year, the EU's natural gas supply fell to 12.8 million terajoules (TJ), 7.4% lower than in 2022 and the lowest level since 1995. Coal supplies fell even more sharply.
