On Thursday 13 June, the EU Council approved the draft regulation creating a European “talent pool”, which will facilitate the recruitment of jobseekers from third countries, it said in a press release.
This talent pool will take the form of an EU-wide online platform that will match the profiles of third-country jobseekers with job offers from EU employers for shortage occupations.
Jobseekers from third countries will be able to register their profile on the Talent Pool platform and provide information on their skills, qualifications, professional experience and language skills. The platform will contain job offers from employers across the EU.
As the EU Talent Pool is designed to address the problem of labour market shortages, only vacancies for occupations identified as facing a shortage at national or European level will be listed.
Participation in the talent pool will remain optional for Member States. A participating Member State may also withdraw at any time.
