13/06/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 13 June, the EU Council adopted a €9 billion ‘European Peace Facility’ (EPF) assistance measure for the Republic of Moldova’s armed forces to modernise the country’s air defence capabilities. The aid will fund short-range interceptors for air defence systems. It complements a €41 million assistance measure, adopted on 4 April 2024, aimed at modernising the defence capabilities of the Moldovan armed forces in the areas of mobility, air surveillance, electronic warfare and logistics. In total, EU support for Moldova via the ‘European Peace Facility’ amounts to €137 million. (CG)
