EPP Group would increase to 189 members, 13 more than in outgoing European Parliament

12/06/2024 (Agence Europe) – The latest projections published on Wednesday 12 June by the European Parliament services show that the EPP political group would win three more seats than estimated on 10 June (see EUROPE 13428/7), giving a total of 189 seats (+13 compared to the outgoing Parliament). The S&D Group announced on Wednesday that Irish MEP Aodhán Ó Ríordáin would join its ranks, bringing the total number of MEPs in the Group to 136 (-3 compared to the outgoing Parliament). The estimates published at midday on Wednesday by Parliament remain at 135 elected members for the S&D Group, pending the official results of the Irish elections, and 79 members for Renew Europe (-23). The Greens/EFA Group would total 53 MEPs (-19). The ECR Group has 73 seats (+4), ID 58 (+9) and The Left 36 seats (-1). See the latest estimates: https://aeur.eu/f/cmu (LC)
