11/06/2024 (Agence Europe) – Analyses by the Committee of the Cereals and Animal Feed Trade (COCERAL), published on Tuesday 11 June, forecast a cereals harvest of 296 million tonnes in the EU-27+UK in 2024. Compared to 2023, this figure represents an increase of 1.09%, surpassing the March forecasts. COCERAL estimates wheat production at 134.5 million tonnes (-3.86% on 2023), barley production at 59.9 million tonnes (+10.11% on 2023) and maize production at 64.8 million tonnes (+1.57% on 2023). The heavy rainfall at the end of 2023 had a major impact on production in north-western Europe, but enabled Spain to counteract the negative effects of the drought at the start of 2023. (PC - intern)
