On Monday 10 June, the European Commission activated the Destination Earth (‘DestinE’) project, dedicated to combating global warming by modelling environmental data.
With DestinE, the European High Performance Computers (EuroHPC), including the LUMI supercomputer in Kajaani, Finland, where the project was activated, are now responsible for simulating the effects of climate change and extreme weather phenomena in order to strengthen the EU’s preparedness.
