02/05/2024 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission has opened two consultations on the implementation of the Battery Regulation (see EUROPE 13219/22). This text, which will be adopted in 2023, is designed to improve the durability of batteries sold in the EU right through to recycling. The Commission has yet to publish a delegated act and an implementing regulation to specify the methods for calculating and verifying the carbon footprint of a battery, as well as the format for declaring this carbon footprint for companies. This is why it is collecting feedback on these issues until 28 May. See the consultation on calculation methods: https://aeur.eu/f/c1v ; and on the declaration format: https://aeur.eu/f/c1w (LM)
