UK’s new marine protected areas penalise EU fishers, says Minister Jean-Noël Barrot

On Tuesday 30 April, France and seven other countries asked the European Commission to verify the compliance of the UK’s decision to ban bottom fishing in 13 British marine protected areas, confirmed the French Minister for Europe, Jean-Noël Barrot.

This UK ban applies to both UK and EU fishers (see EUROPE B13402A10).

The EU/UK ‘Specialised Committee on Fisheries’, provided for in the Trade and Cooperation Agreement, will meet on 23 May.
