Council of Europe urges member States to combat ‘SLAPPs’ aimed at intimidating journalists and other critics of public life

Alarmed by the impact of SLAPPs (strategic lawsuits against public participation) on freedom of expression, public debate and public participation, the Council of Europe’s Committee of Ministers issued a recommendation to the organisation’s 46 member States on Friday 5 April.
