22/03/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 21 March, the ‘EU Mission’ label was awarded to 23 cities that have joined the EU Mission for Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities, set up under Horizon Europe. The label is awarded to cities that have implemented projects to achieve climate neutrality by 2030 and facilitate access to financing. The Commissioner for Research, Iliana Ivanova, stressed that this was recognition of the work of these cities and assured them of the support of the European Commission. Ten cities had already been awarded the label by October 2023. This European Mission aims to create 100 smart, climate-neutral cities by 2030, and to serve as a model to enable all European cities to do the same by 2050.
