15/03/2024 (Agence Europe) – In a declaration adopted on Friday 15 March at the end of a meeting in Trento under the Italian Presidency, the G7 industry ministers committed themselves to “achieving an appropriate balance between fostering innovation and the need for appropriate guardrails” to encourage the development of “safe, secure and trustworthy artificial intelligence”. In their view, the AI governance frameworks that will be put in place may vary from one member country to another, but they should aim for “interoperability”. On Wednesday 13 March, the European Parliament endorsed the first supranational framework to govern AI in the EU (see EUROPE 13370/28). See the G7 countries’ declaration: https://aeur.eu/f/BD4 (MB)
