15/03/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Friday, 15 March, members of the G7 stressed that they are extremely concerned about news that Iran is reportedly considering transferring ballistic missiles and related technology to Russia. Calling on Tehran to not proceed with this course of action, they warned in a joint statement, “Were Iran to proceed with providing ballistic missiles or related technology to Russia, we are prepared to respond swiftly and in a coordinated manner including with new and significant measures against Iran.” In their opinion, doing so would contribute to regional destabilisation and would represent a substantive material escalation in its support for the war in Ukraine. The G7 has reiterated its call on third parties to immediately cease providing material support to Russia’s illegal and unjustifiable war of aggression against Ukraine “or face severe costs”. (CG)
