European Commission signs new partnership with Mauritania on managing migration and developing economic opportunities

On Thursday 7 March in Nouakchott, the European Commissioner for Home Affairs, Ylva Johansson, and the Mauritanian Minister of the Interior and Decentralisation, Mohamed Ahmed Ould Mohamed Lemine, signed a joint declaration launching a migration partnership between the EU and Mauritania.

The partnership will provide €210 million to Mauritania to support migration and forced displacement, security and economic development, according to a press release.
