European Commission opens applications for iCapital, European Capital of Innovation Awards

05/03/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 5 March, the European Commission announced the launch of the tenth European Capital of Innovation Awards, or iCapital. The award is supported by the European Innovation Council (EIC) under Horizon Europe. The iCapital award is designed to encourage cities that support local innovation ecosystems and transformative innovation for the benefit of citizens. The competition will present a total of six prizes in two categories: ‘European Capital of Innovation’ and ‘European Rising Innovative City’. The winning city in the first category will receive €1,000,000 and the two runners-up will each receive €100,000. The winning city in the second category will receive €500,000 and the two runners-up will receive €50,000 each. Applications are open until 18 June.
