On Tuesday 5 March, the Party of the European Left (EL) published its campaign manifesto for the European elections taking place from 6 to 9 June.
The document, the final details of which have yet to be worked out since its adoption at the EL congress in Ljubljana on 24 February, focuses - as we wrote in our newsletter (see EUROPE 13358/19) - on the cost of living and housing, the climate crisis and civil rights. The EL also establishes peace and democracy, public services and social rights as priorities for the next elections.
“We need to reclaim European politics. Now is the time to put the European Union at the service of its citizens. This manifesto, which contains concrete proposals to respond to citizens’ needs, will be our main guide for the upcoming European elections”, commented Austrian Walter Baier, who was nominated in Ljubljana as the EL’s lead candidate for the European elections (see EUROPE 13357/15).
