05/03/24 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 4 March, on the sidelines of the Energy Council in Brussels (see EUROPE 13363/2), the French Minister Delegate for Industry and Energy, Roland Lescure, and the Danish Minister for Energy, Lars Aagaard, signed a letter of intent and a bilateral agreement on the cross-border transport of CO2 for the purposes of permanent geological storage between France and Denmark. This agreement enables French industry to store CO2 in the Danish subsoil. “Carbon capture and storage is essential if we are to achieve our climate objectives. Our needs in this area are far greater than our current capabilities. We need to combine all the storage possibilities, resources and projects beyond our borders to grow this industry and enable the European Union to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050”, said the Danish Minister.
