Payment of new pre-financing under ‘REPowerEU’ chapter of Spain’s recovery plan

02/02/2024 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 2 February, the European Commission granted Spain €1.4 billion in pre-financing to implement the ‘REPowerEU’ chapter of its revised post-Covid-19 recovery plan, designed to accelerate the energy transition and reduce dependence on Russian hydrocarbons. This is the second tranche of pre-financing following the payment of €340 million in loans at the end of January (see EUROPE B13336A16, B13262A14). (MB)
