18/01/24 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 11 January, the European Commission launched a public consultation - open until midnight on 8 February - on a delegated regulation it is preparing to increase the reuse of water in agriculture. This consultation comes ahead of the presentation of the initiative on water resilience, expected in March (see EUROPE 13329/2). The delegated regulation will complement EU Regulation 2020/741 on minimum requirements for water reuse for agricultural irrigation with technical specifications that will help those involved in water reuse projects (including competent authorities, treatment plant operators, storage and distribution operators and end-users) to prepare sound risk management plans for the safe reuse of treated wastewater in agriculture, says the Commission.
