Strong support from European Parliament for development of geothermal energy in EU

On Thursday 18 January in Strasbourg, MEPs adopted by a very large majority (531 votes in favour, 2 against and 20 abstentions) the own-initiative report by Zdzisław Krasnodębski (ECR, Polish) on geothermal energy.

The report aims to develop geothermal energy across the EU, recognising its “enormous potential”, but also the fact that it still occupies “a niche market compared to other energy sources”.
