EU Council has adopted new EU/Kiribati fisheries protocol

17/01/24 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 16 January, the Council of the European Union adopted without debate the Decision on the new 6-year Protocol (2023-2028) to the Fisheries Partnership Agreement with the Republic of Kiribati. The protocol allows EU vessels to fish for tuna in Kiribati’s waters and provides fishing opportunities for four tuna seiners, with access to Kiribati’s waters for 160 days a year (additional days can be made available each year to vessels from EU Member...
