Inclusion of hate speech and hate crimes in list of European offences, Maite Pagazaurtundúa calls for legislation that is more inclusive and adapted to digital age
Brussels, 17/01/2024 (Agence Europe)

MEPs debated, on Wednesday 17 January, the draft report tabled by Maite Pagazaurtundúa (Renew Europe, Spanish) on combating hate speech and hate crimes in the EU, which they will put to a vote on Thursday 18 January. The aim is to classify these acts as “European crimes”, emphasising the need for protection while respecting freedom of expression (see EUROPE B13236A16).
