10/01/24 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 10 January, the European Commission approved the inclusion of ‘Terre Abruzzesi’ /’Terre d'Abruzzo’ wines from the Italian region of Abruzzo in the Community register of protected geographical indications (PGIs). This PGI designates categories of wines, sparkling wines and wines made from raisined grapes. The Commission has also approved the protection of the Spanish PGI ‘Cabrito de Extremadura’, a meat from kid goats born, reared, fattened and slaughtered in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura. The goats are initially fed on their mother’s milk. Due to the breed and diet of the animals, this milk has particular characteristics that differ from those of the milk produced by goats in the Autonomous Community of Extremadura. (LC)
