On Wednesday 10 January, the European Commission decided to appoint Claudia Fusco as Director of General Affairs, Knowledge and Resources’ in the Directorate-General for Environment (DG ENV).
Ms Fusco has acquired in-depth knowledge of various EU policy areas, including competition, transport, the internal market, the environment and energy. An Italian national, Ms Fusco is currently head of the ‘Green Knowledge & Research Hub, LIFE’ unit at DG ENV.
The Commission has also appointed Stylianos Mitolidis as Director for Fisheries Policy in the Mediterranean and Black Sea within the Directorate-General for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (DG MARE).
During his twenty-year career at the Commission, Stylianos Mitolidis acquired in-depth expertise in a wide range of policy areas, including trade, anti-dumping, subsidies and fisheries, and developed strong management skills.
A Greek national, Mr Mitolidis is currently Head of Unit for Structural Support for the Mediterranean, Black Sea and Landlocked Member States at DG MARE, where he oversees the implementation of the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF).
