On Tuesday 9 January, Finnish EPP MEP Petri Sarvamaa launched a petition to urge the EU Council to hold a vote to confirm the risk of a violation of European values in Hungary, as part of a new stage in the triggering of ‘Article 7’ of the EU Treaty on the state of the rule of law.

Announced on X (formerly Twitter), this petition is open for signature by other elected representatives and will be presented on 12 January to the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola...
