European Commission’s 2023 report on application of Charter stresses need to step up legal protection and access to justice

On Monday 4 December, the European Commission published its 2023 Annual Report on the application of the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union, stressing the importance of effective legal protection and access to justice. This report echoes the 2020 strategy to strengthen the application of the Charter in the EU, by providing an overview of recent EU legislation and developments in the area of access to justice.
