European Commission authorises seven Member States to invest around €1.2 billion in first IPCEI in field of cloud and edge computing

On Tuesday 5 December, the European Commissioner for Competition, Didier Reynders, announced that the Commission had authorised an Important Project of Common European Interest (IPCEI) called IPCEI CIS, which stands for IPCEI Next Generation Cloud Infrastructure and Services.

IPCEI CIS will support research, development and early industrial deployment of advanced cloud and edge computing technologies. “This IPCEI will seek to develop software to integrate the cloud and edge capabilities...
