Fitzgerald and Incir condemn attitude of Berlin and Paris on issue of rape

The European Parliament’s co-rapporteurs on the draft directive aimed at combating violence against women, Ireland’s Frances Fitzgerald (EPP) and Sweden’s Evin Incir (S&D), said on Monday 4 December that they were “extremely disappointed” that France and Germany continued to refuse to include a definition of rape based on consent in the draft legislation currently under inter-institutional negotiation (see EUROPE B13264A28).
